North Fulton Regional Hospital and Harry’s Farmers Market Promote Informed Shopping and Consuming

With the busy lifestyle that has become quite the norm in America today, many people find themselves turning to dietary supplements. But how informed is the average consumer really? In many cases, unfortunately, not informed enough.

When it comes to what we put in our bodies, knowledge is essential. And because no one person is like another, our bodies react differently to different supplements. Without a thorough understanding, one consumer could put himself at risk by combining certain supplements that are seemingly harmless alone. Some supplements, for example, are taken for different reasons (i.e. aspirin and Vitamin E) but both act as blood thinners. Supplement Smarts is the next health event in the monthly seminar series offered through North Fulton Regional Hospital and Harry’s Farmers Market and is intended to teach people about the importance of safe consumption of anything we put into our bodies that can be classified as a supplement. Topics covered will include:

• Dangers of supplement interactions

The program will run from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 15 in the Salud! Cooking School at Harry’s Farmers Market.
