NFRH and Harry's Farmers Market to Teach 'Breast Health Basics'

Joanna Stotter
September 26, 2008

Beyond the ever abundant pink ribbons, the weekly pink specials and the countless breast cancer awareness fundraisers lies a common thread: the importance of education. In order to most effectively protect ourselves we must first understand what we are up against.

Harry’s Farmers Market and North Fulton Regional Hospital are dedicated to providing such an education. Breast Health Basics is intended to urge women to take a proactive approach to their breast health; to not wait until the age of 40 to start with their breast regimens simply because that is the recommended age to begin a mammogram routine. Instead, get ahead of the game by getting to know your breasts now through self breast exams and clinical exams. Attendees of the program will hear experts in the field discuss:

  • Self breast exams;
  • Clinical exams;
  • Mammograms and other diagnostic tools;
  • Breast cancer treatment options;
  • And more!

The program will also feature an inspirational story from a breast cancer survivor…a woman who battled this disease and won. The program will run from 5:30-7 p.m. on Monday, October 13 in the Salud! Cooking School at Harry’s Farmers Market.

Breast Health Basics is part of the Whole Body, Whole Health Seminar Series offered through North Fulton Regional Hospital and Harry’s Farmers Market. The final two seminars in the 2008 series will focus on Diabetes & Weight and Healthy Holiday Eating/Cooking. January marks the beginning of the next series, and like those in 2008, the 2009 series will be offered at no cost. Join us for these free lectures and demonstrations with Harry’s Farmers Market chefs and product specialists and North Fulton Regional Hospital clinical experts.

Registration for this free seminar is required. For more information about Breast Health Basics or to register for the event, call 770-751-2660, or visit www.northfultonregional.com/wholebodywholehealth.
